Meet John in His Own Words
My name is John W. Hodges, Jr., and I am a personal injury trial lawyer. I am a Texas native, but I left after graduation from the University of Texas at San Antonio for active duty as a U.S. Marine Corps officer.
My Military Service and Legal Education
Not long after I was commissioned, the Marine Corps sent me to Iraq. After my deployments, I was selected by the Marine Corps to attend law school at the University of Nebraska through the highly competitive Funded Law Education Program. During law school, I represented the University of Nebraska in trial competitions as a member of the National Trial Team.
I completed the Litigation Skills Program of Concentrated Study and received my Juris Doctorate in 2011.
Return to Texas and the Start of My Legal Career
After I spent more than 10 years as an active-duty Marine and Judge Advocate, I returned home to Texas to represent individuals in need of a bold, passionate attorney.
I am a litigator, dedicated to the relentless pursuit of justice for my clients. I cut my teeth in criminal defense while I was in the Marines, and then worked in commercial litigation. I realized my passion is to fight for people who have been injured or are threatened with the loss of their family or freedom.
I have represented injured individuals and massive corporations, and I have obtained phenomenal results and money judgments for my clients, sometimes even when they were the party that was first sued. While I did well in commercial litigation, I found working with families and accident victims more fulfilling.
About Me Personally and My Relationship with Christ
When I am not advocating for my clients, I continue to serve as a Major and Judge Advocate in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves.
Away from work, I play golf (rarely), exercise (in a modified home gym), and spend time with my family (that keeps growing).
Most importantly, I continue to grow in my relationship with Jesus, and regularly attend Rush Creek Church (Midlothian) and a small Life Group with other followers of Jesus. Whether you have a case or not, I am always willing to talk to you about Jesus.
Why I Practice Personal Injury Law
A lot of people know what they want to do for a long time, but I just took a little while to get there. I started in criminal defense, and then worked in commercial litigation, but found my calling as a personal injury attorney.
As simply as I can say it: I want to fight bullies.
While working with commercial clients, I took my job seriously and obtained some smoking hot results. When I contacted the client, they were thankful, but the great outcome didn’t seem that important to them.
By contrast, when I started working with accident victims or families and secured them compensation, some of these people would cry. I realized that working with individuals is good work, it’s life-changing work. I saw the meaningful difference I could make for a lot of people who need a fighter and someone who cares.
I have dedicated my practice to personal injury and civil litigation because I believe that my fighting spirit and litigation skills are best suited for the courtroom. If you have been wronged and you are ready to fight back, I’m an attorney who will tirelessly and fearlessly fight on your behalf.
